Thickener and Gelling Agent
Product name ARON®, JURYMER®, RHEOGIC®, JUNLON®
These are used to impart thickness and other properties to latex, paints, adhesives, cosmetics, and other materials. We offer a broad range of grades, including powders, water soluble, and emulsions for characteristics such as thickening effects, flow properties, and workability.
Characteristics
What Are Thickeners?
Different types of thickeners are widely used to increase the thickness of latex or other compounds. We are developing high polymer carboxylic acid thickeners, and have released three types: powder, aqueous solution, and emulsion.
Functions of Thickeners
Formation of the three-dimensional network due to adsorption of thickener polymer

The thickening mechanism has been explained as being caused by the formation of hydrogen bonds to carboxyl groups and water molecules, and structural viscosity owing to the three-dimensional network formed by the thickener polymer’s adsorption to pigment particles. While there are differences due to the size, quantity, and the affinities and the like of pigment particles in the system, it is possible to impart a so-called thixotropic quality that destroys the three-dimensional network structure by shearing stress and lowers viscosity. This property is widely used to improve the applicability of water-based paints, latex, compounds, etc.
Characteristics and Usage of Various Thickeners
| Type | Characteristics | Usage |
|---|---|---|
| Powder | Highly thickening, highly spinnable | Add after making an aqueous solution. Lumps form easily if dissolved all at once, so dissolve it little by little. |
| Water-soluble | Thickening, water holding | Add directly into the system you want to use. Select a grade for your thickening situation. |
| Emulsion (Alkali thickeners) |
Thickening, water holding, temporal stability | Thicken by adding directly into the system you want to use and adjusting the pH (alkali neutralization). Handling is relatively easy. |

Product name ARONVIS®, JUNLON®, RHEOGIC®, JURYMER®
In terms of gelling agents, we have a lineup that is focused on acrylic polymers with the partially neutralized ARONVIS, as well as crosslinking JUNLON and RHEOGIC.
Characteristics
Pharmaceutical Products and Quasi-drugs
Sodium acrylate polymers are anionic polymers that contain many carboxyl groups, and straight-chain sodium polyacrylate aqueous solution forms a gel that is viscous and has adhesive force but is not spinnable. By using different combinations of sodium polyacrylates together with another cross-linker, it is possible to design water-resistant gels with added gel strength and adhesive force. These technologies are applicable in a wide range of fields, including pharmaceutical poultices, quasi-drugs like cooling sheets and packs, as well as cosmetics and other items.
Raw Materials for Cosmetics
ARONVIS, JURYMER® AC, and RHEOGIC are sodium polyacrylates used as thickeners in emulsions, creams, lotions, tonics, and other cosmetic products. We are able to formulate hydrous gels into sheet-shaped packs by combining different sodium polyacrylates and cross-linkers. The JURYMER® AT and ET series is made of aqueous solutions of polyacrylate esters used in eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara, water-based nail film formers, and pigment dispersants. Because these are self-emulsifying micro emulsions, they include absolutely no surface-activating agents. The JURYMER® MB series is a spherical bead polymer primarily composed of methyl methacrylate and is used as a lubricant in foundation, lipstick, and other products. Because of its colorless and transparent spherical shape, this line has superior fluidity and lubricating properties, and includes almost no organic materials like residual monomers or heavy metals. Additionally, owing to the porous nature of its surface, MB-1P has superior oil absorptive properties. ARONVIS, JURYMER® AC, RHEOGIC and JUNLON are sodium polyacrylates used as thickeners in emulsions, creams, lotions, tonics, and other cosmetic products. We are able to formulate hydrous gels into sheet-shaped packs by combining different sodium polyacrylates and cross-linkers.
Raw Materials for Toiletries
JURYMER® has superior chelating properties against the dispersion of inorganic pigments and metal ions. JUNLON is a cross-linking polyacrylate, and when neutralized with an alkali, yields a clear, thickening liquid with high thixotropic properties. RHEOGIC is a cross-linking sodium polyacrylate, and yields a clear, thickening liquid with high thixotropic properties when simply dissolved in water. ARONVIS is a sodium polyacrylate with a high molecular weight, yielding excellent thickening effects even in small quantities.”
